Prof. Ninni Sernert is professor in experimental orthopaedics since 2016. She graduated as physiotherapist in 1979 at the Lund University, Sweden, and defended her PhD thesis titled “Evaluation of patients with an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, before and after reconstruction, with special emphasis on the use of the KT 1000 arthrometer” 2002 at University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
She has been a member of KSSTA’s editorial team since 2015 but also reviews for other journals within the field (e.g. AJSM, Scan J Med Sci Sport, Physician and Sport Medicine, BMC Muscoluscetal Disorders).
Her main research area is anterior cruciate ligament injuries, clinical evaluation of different surgical techniques as well as rehabilitation before and after reconstruction. Another research area of interest is clinical evaluation of patients with shoulder instability.
Through the years and currently she is supervising more than 10 PhD students mainly physicians, as well as resident physician in their scientific exam and several master students in physiotherapy.
She also organises and is an examiner for PhD-courses at Gothenburg University. As Research Director at the Department of Research & Development at NU Hospital Group, Trollhättan, Sweden, she is involved in organising employees to implement research and clinical studies in their everyday clinical work.
