Prof. Dr Olaf Lorbach is a specialist in orthopedic surgery, who currently serves as the Head for Shoulder Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Orthopedics at the Schoen-Clinic in Lorsch, Germany.
His clinical and scientific interests focus on reconstructive shoulder and knee surgery as well as shoulder arthroplasty. He completed his residency training at the ATOS Clinic Heidelberg under Prof. Habermeyer and Prof. Pässler, Saarland University under Prof. Kohn as well as at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg under Prof. Seil. He further received his specialty training at Balgrist University Hospital in Zürich, Switzerland under Prof. Christian Gerber as well as at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, USA under Prof. Scott Rodeo.
He has authored and co-authored a multitude of internationally-published and peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and regularly attends international conferences and meetings as an invited speaker and instructor.
Prof. Lorbach received several national and international awards amongst others the Richard O’Connor Award (AANA), Herodicus Award, ESSKA DJO Award, ESSKA – Smith & Nephew Award (Best Paper in Ligaments and Biomechanics) as well as the Perthes Award (DVSE) twice. He was further selected as travelling fellow for the ESSKA-AOSSM Exchange Programme.
Prof. Lorbach serves as active Editorial Board member of AJSM, Arthroscopy as well as OJSM. He was awarded as “Reviewer of the year” for KSSTA and received the “Certificate of Excellence in Reviewing” for the Arthroscopy Journal.
He is an established member of the following professional associations and serves as an active member in committees of: International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the Association for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA), the German Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (DVSE), European Shoulder Associates (ESSKA-ESA), Magellan Society and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine AOSSM.
He is currently the congress president of the German Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Head of the DVSE Communications-Committee and head of the AGA Shoulder Committee.
